Simple ways to Reclaim the Relationship with Your Body
Fitness. Oh what many things you encompass.
How many flings we’ve had.
You truly mean well.
It just isn’t always executed swell.
Sometimes we go too far.
Sometimes we forget why we are.
But I see you now.
A word so overwhelmed with
How many ways we use you.
Like everything else,
You just need balance with self.
I see fitness as the lifestyle to nourish, strengthen, and balance the body you live in.
I believe it is important to cultivate a healthy relationship with your body.
We LIVE in our bodies. I mean it’s the thing we have the longest & most dedicated relationship with. We live in a material plane, and our energetic souls, our compositions, have chosen this body to express itself.
Nurturing your body with authentic, high self worth is self care. It is a growing & evolving relationship. And wow, once you cultivate a healthy, loving relationship with self, it's fucking magical.
Getting to the Magic
It seems a large percent of women struggle with body image. Add in the common knowledge that many fitness fads revolve around pushing and crushing.. too often do I find women with fitness intentions subconsciously rooted in low self worth.
Let's say you have spent part of your life looking negatively towards yourself, not feeling worthy or avoiding putting time into true self care (self-care: doing what you know is best for yourself whether it be easy or not).. that is okay! Just like anything else, we can evolve.
It just takes time, accountability and dedication. You really can't jump from hate to love without going through some neutrality. I mean hello romantic comedies?
It is possible to evolve the way you view yourself. No matter where you are between love & hate with yourself & No better way than creating dedicated time to the relationship.
Journal Prompts to Establish where your Relationship is with your body?
Who she is?
What she does for you?
What you do with her?
Where she’s been?
Where do you TAKE her?
How you treat her?
How does she give to you?
What are her needs?
What do you crave? Can you hear what she tells you, vis versa?
8 ways you can Develop a better Relationship with your Body
Incorporate dedicated time to exercise in a week. Take account of daily required movement outside of exercise. Listen to when your body needs to rest.
Take a few minutes a day to stretch/check on posture. Be creative with your schedule/day..maybe it’s once an hour at work if sitting, right before you go to bed or when you watch your fav TV show etc.
Invest in Yourself. Get a massage. Receive Reiki. Buy an outfit you feel good in. Invest in a fitness coach.
Make your Fitness fit you. What do you need, 2 days in the gym? Bodyweight workouts at home? Walking daily & yoga? Cycle sync?
Take time to learn about your body. Learn about whole food nutrition. Read into what a food label really tells you. Tune into a podcast around the fitness topics that intrigue you. Understand why sugar should be limited.
Work on self talk & subconscious beliefs. How do you want to treat yourself? What do I want? Where do you get frustrated with self? It is easy/hard to stay dedicated to your goals? What is the story I have been telling myself?
Educate on and implement healthful food choices. It is no secret nutrition plays a big factor in your health. If you don’t know much about nutrition, learn! Educate yourself on macronutrients and micronutrients. On Pinterest or Instagram find accounts that teach you how to cook healthy meals. Practice filling your plate with at least one veggie per meal.
Appreciate all your body does for you. It can be a journal entry. You can stand in front of a mirror and tell yourself. You can even talk to a friend about it.Please note, everyone is in a different place! Depending on where you are at with yourself, the next steps in your inner-relationship will look different.
Fitness deserves to be something celebrated in your life. Not dreaded or forced.
Make it ritual to honor your body.
